A Bizarre Argument Against Public Transportation.
George Will outlines the real reason for public transporation “‘progressives’ passion for trains is their goal of diminishing Americans’ individualism in order to make them more amenable to collectivism.” Duh.
But really, has Will ever been on public transporation? I doubt it. While I love it, there’s nothing supporting individualism more than looking around at some of the wierdos you share a bus and/or train with.
Minister for Science Refuses to Protect Science and Plays His Broken Record. Motion: “That, in the opinion of the House: (a) public science, basic research and the free and open exchange of scientific information are essential to evidence-based policy-making; (b) federal government scientists must be enabled to discuss openly their findings with their colleagues and the public; and (c) the federal government should maintain support for its basic scientific capacity across Canada, including immediately extending funding, until a new operator is found, to the world-renowned Experimental Lakes Area Research Facility to pursue its unique research program.” It was defeated 157-137. All Conservatives voted nay.
